I do think that queer theory is important in helping us all to articulate, and label our experiences, but there is a world of difference between the theory and a lived experience. Thanks so much for writing! I hope you continue to read the blog.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04757030667454573239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873148815022498878.post-35973735136904567242013-01-10T23:25:45.639-05:002013-01-10T23:25:45.639-05:00I really enjoyed reading a personal story of someo...I really enjoyed reading a personal story of someone gender queer, it made it so easy to understand compared to some intellectual definition. I loved the story about Tommy your best friend, and about the young children who identified you as a boy. That's what so great about children, they still react with their basic human instincts. I look forward to your next post and I appreciated your own acknowledgement of the fluidity of the subject. lavenderpulphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12100735203423931657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873148815022498878.post-35546184772870082002013-01-03T20:57:59.835-05:002013-01-03T20:57:59.835-05:00It really is all about letting people just be, per...It really is all about letting people just be, period. We can get so hung up on lables, at times, that we can't see the person right in front of us. The whole point is to see each other, to finally really see each other and allow people to have the freedom of self identification that suits their souls. Thanks for writing! Guess what: he doesn't get to determine how other people define themselves. I love this list, which comes from the description of a student club at my alma mater: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, two spirit, genderqueer, pansexual, omnisexual, and allied women. It's hard, I think, to find the balance between feeling restricted by a label and hoping to find a label that fits so you know that you're not the only one. Post some more!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
